WHAT:
UKE JOINT is an open mike night for ukulele players and performers.
It
is hoped that UKE JOINT
will evolve into a fully fledged regular ukulele cabaret night.
Around
these regular performance nights we would also like to facilitate an
active London based Uke community creating opportunities for
teaching, learning, socialising and exchanging ideas. |
|
HOW
MUCH: Only
£3 for performers /
£5
for spectators. |
|
MUSIC
POLICY:
JAZZ, BLUES, HAWAIIAN, COUNTRY, BALLADS, SWING, ROCK 'N' ROLL, CONTEMPORARY,
FOLK, SHOW SONGS, ROCK, POP, TIN PAN ALLEY, MUSIC HALL, REGGAE,
CLASSICAL, PUNK, SOUL, FORMBY STYLE etc, etc....
We
hope that UKE JOINT
will reflect the diversity of ukulele based music and also create an
opportunity for performers to showcase new material and explore new genres. |
|
SMOKING
POLICY: A
few people, who have never been to Uke Joint, have asked about our
policy regarding smoking. We do not operate a no smoking policy. We
have found that only a small minority of people who come to Uke Joint
smoke and the venue has powerful a air conditioning system. We have
never received any complaints from non-smokers about the air quality
at the venue or had any feedback suggesting that the level of smoke
has adversely affected anyone's performance.
Of
course, when the new laws come into force, Uke Joint will be non-smoking,
but until that time people who want to indulge in the odd cigarette
are as welcome as everyone else. |
|
AGE
RESTRICTIONS: The
venue has a strict policy on under 18s. We would love to have
younger players at Uke Joint but sadly we have to respect the venue's wishes.
The
venue also has a policy that no dogs are allowed on the premises - SORRY! |

PERFORMER
INFORMATION
Performers/players
should arrive between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
Ukulele
players at all levels are welcome to come along and participate.
We
have decided to allocate 2 numbers per performer or a maximum of 10
minutes (if you only want to do one number - that's fine).
If
there are a small number of performers then we will rotate and give
the first performers a chance to play again.
Places
will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
There
will be a PA including monitors and mixing desk, 6 microphones and
stands. We can therefore accommodate duos, trios etc.
For
those with electric/amplified ukes, we will not provide a specific amp.
Some
instruments may well be fine plugged directly into the PA, but you
may need to provide your own DI box if you feel that is necessary. If
you have a specific requirement then please call or email in advance
to discuss.
We
may also video some performances for use on the website, but we will
ask your specific permission before either filming or broadcasting.
Please
feel free to call or email directly should you have any questions. |

If
you wish to join the UKE JOINT mailing list for regular information
and updates please send
